To ensure the longevity of your Artwood Outdoor product please follow our simple care instructions.
Furniture should always be lifted not dragged when being moved.
Caring for Wooden Furniture
Teak is a wood which has particularly good properties for production of furniture and interior fittings. It is hard, heavy, elastic and contains oils which give it great resistance to moisture. Artwood use only wood from Indonesian plantations to make their teak products. The finish on all Artwood Outdoor timber furniture is an Instant Grey.
The colour when first unpacked appears quite a light grey. As the products are exposed to the environment, the colour will deepen into a darker shade of grey. The time this takes for all environments will vary slightly as it is due to a chemical reaction in the finish that needs sunlight. The final colour could have small variations depending on the sap in the timber.
Care: Please be advised, as with all timber products outside, there will be some movement and slight cracking to be expected. No maintenance is required for the first three months.
After three months please follow the below steps:
1. Clean the surface of the furniture with Golden Care Teak & Hardwood Cleaner, as per the instructions on the bottle.
2. Once dried, apply Golden Care Teak Shield as per the instructions on the bottle.
3. Wait until dry then the furniture is ready to use again.
4. Repeat this process every 4-6 months.
Teak Shield is an almost invisible wood protector that utilises nano technology and makes it difficult for water, wine, olive oil and butter to seep into teak.
It helps to prevent stains whilst retaining the natural look of the surface and also has a built in mould and mildew inhibitor.
Failure to follow this maintenance procedure is likely to void your warranty.
Caring for Wicker Furniture
Artwood Outdoor Wicker furniture is maintenance free furniture, woven by hand in all weather wicker (polyethylene), on a rustproof aluminium frame. The metal frame has a powder coated gavlanized finish that will require minimal care, we recommend wiping dirt off with a soft cloth. For any reason if the finish becomes scratched, this will need to be resealed with a rust protector.
This furniture can be used for both indoor and outdoor use, however not in freezing temperatures. The polyethylene may crack after prolonged exposure to strong sunlight and salt. We recommend washing regularly with water and a scrubbing brush to remove dirt, dust and salt build up. For a very dirty weave we recommend Golden Care Wicker Cleaner and Protector.
Caring for Outdoor Cushions
Artwood outdoor cushions are produced with quick dry foam inners and 100% solution dyed acrylic fabric covers. Cushions should not be left out in humid or wet conditions for prolonged periods of time. All covers are removable and washable, however, dry cleaning is recommended for all fabrics. For spot cleaning we would recommend Golden Care Fabric Cleaner & Protector.
